Lets carry on considering the full architecture of the “new creation” life although its an absolutely massive subject and some aspects are explored in Religion vs Kingdom of Heaven. These three verses (Eph 2:6 Col 1:13 and 2 Cor 5:17) connect us to a solid understanding of our (already) transformation to a supernatural identity in Christ

These three verses and others which are quite extraordinary and relate to the first century commencement of an eternal union with Christ that early Christians understood

Most religious systems push these truths into the future because a future promise is easier to control than a present reality.

If it’s future, the institution stays in charge.

If it’s present, the believer becomes free.

The Real Issue: Paul’s verbs vs. religion’s synthetic comfort zone

Lets look at his words, context and content

  • “He has made us alive with Christ” (Eph 2:5) imagine where He is now!
  • “He raised us up with Him” (Eph 2:6) That's the action of the Father!
  • “He transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Col 1:13)
  • “You are a new creation” (2 Cor 5:17) All past tense. All completed and All 'now'.

    But sadly religion often teaches:

  • One day you’ll be fully alive
  • One day you’ll be raised
  • One day you’ll enter the kingdom
  • One day you’ll be transformed

    That’s not actually Paul, therefore in our analysis of these different dynamics we might seriously consider (if we are bold enough) that what's happened is a 'shift' an institutional displacement!

    Why the 'shift' happens

    Here are the three biggest reasons:

    1. A present reality removes the institution (religion) as the middleman If you’re already:

  • raised
  • seated
  • transferred
  • a new hybrid creation
  • sealed for eternity

    …then you don’t need a system to get you there.

    You’re not climbing a ladder (in the story of Jacobs ladder the Angels were ascending first then descending - they were already here! as we in the spirit are already there). You’re living from a gift. You've already inherited, You've already been adopted by God as Children, Your actually more than Conquerors so don't need to fight a battle that's already been won! Institutions historically prefer process over completion, because process keeps people dependent.

    2. A future promise is much easier to manage than a present identity

    If the transformation is future:
  • leaders can set conditions
  • behaviour becomes currency
  • belonging becomes performance
  • holiness becomes a target instead of a gift of relational enjoyment and supernatural normality

    But if the transformation is already done, then:

  • holiness is identity
  • transformation is the starting point
  • obedience flows from our new nature, not fear

    That’s harder to control.

    3. People confuse experience with status This is the subtle one that we probably all fall for. Many believers don’t feel raised, seated, or transferred. So religion unfortunately adjusts theology to match experience but its beginning to not do it very well! and Paul does the opposite: He calls believers to adjust experience to match truth.(lots more we can say about this....)

    He never says:

    “You will one day be seated with Christ.” He says:
    “You are seated — now - so live from His flow of life 🔥- the Life of His Kingdom of Heaven.” Religion flips that. The deeper reason is most likely that Paul’s revelation is probably too big for religious systems as his revelation and subsequent missive is explosive:

  • You died with Christ
  • You rose with Christ
  • You are seated with Christ
  • You are sealed in Christ
  • You are in His kingdom

    You are a new creation You lack nothing That leaves no room for:

  • spiritual hierarchy
  • gatekeepers
  • performance-based belonging
  • fear-driven obedience
  • “maybe one day” Christianity

    It decentralises power. It empowers the believer. It makes union with Christ the centre, not the institution. That’s threatening to structures built on gradualism. It also absolutely nowhere near with that extraordinary statement by Jesus “ You will do Greater things than me” This is not religion, which could never say that, religious leaders are most unlikely to appoint anyone who could do greater things than they themselves which is the whole dynamic of the Kingdom of Heaven.

    We'll discuss at some point in great detail because there is a quite wonderful trail of revelation about what God is like that makes extraordinary sense for the hungry..

    🌄 The truth is simple Paul’s gospel is present tense. Religion prefers future tense.

    Paul in Scripture says: “This has already happened.” Religion says: “Not yet — keep trying.” One liberates. One manages.
