2 Corinthians 5:17 is beautifully simple but radically transformative it is an absolute eternal reality not just some doctrinal nicety that's not to be taken seriously.

Its vital for the Christian and there is more recently fresh understanding of verses like 2 Corinthians 5:17 which we’ll explore. Indeed the battlegrounds surrounding identity provide significant clues because the whole creation is ‘waiting on tiptoe’ for the Sons of God to come into their own (Romans 8:22) in a fresh wave of Identity only seen in glimpses in the revivals of History (for example the Lewis revival do see the link https://romans1015.com/lewis-revival/ years ago I was privileged to meet an elderly gentleman who said what distinguished it from anything else he’d encountered was and I quote “ it was because The Father was there!”).

Now what’s interesting is that the ‘enemies’ current attempt at creating these counter cultures/societal confusions are perhaps a give away, a desperate contradiction a counteraction because of what's to come and that is a full understanding of an individuals identity in Christ, when this happens Heaven will break-though. When the Children of The Father know where and who they are everything that is not of God will come into the light and be seen - be highlighted ….

When Jesus was asked a question about marriage in Heaven - His answer was precise there is no gender in Heaven simply because the Lords Children are like the Angels who have no need of it! We see in the recent past an emergence and increase in societal identity confusions (of all sorts) fuelled by an enemy becoming increasingly desperate to lie, steal, destroy and deprecate just about everything that could be seen to be of an order God had planned but he’s on borrowed time. So what’s the reality? it is in fact the absolute immutability of God’s Word the Holy love letter within which His children live, breath and experience by a life of faith. Looking at 2 Corinthians 5:17 what do we see? we see a revelation penned by a man who had been caught up to the third Heaven (if there's a third there must be a first and second but we can go into that later). Paul discussion of his Heavenly encounter in 2 Corinthians is most likely to have taken place before the letters/Epistles were even written and its this encounter that has provided levels of Heavenly revelation some of which he is instructed not to reveal (but not all) and that provides the energy and oxygen of Heaven to provide the dynamics we need to live in and to experience our status as Children of God 1Jn 3:1. Ephesians 2:6 and Colosians 1.13 are status and positional identity examples.

We are supposed to live in His newly designed framework as New Creatures which of course we are and we’ll expand the detail of this in due course. 2 Corinthians 5:17 is fascinating because firstly is restricted to those ‘IN’ Christ and because Jesus was quite possibly at the resurrection seen by God in a completely new way as a new hybrid human/living sacrifice/new man etc etc and much much more that we can’t all comprehend but happy to insert any contributor para’s.
